Why I love Retirement - reason #1
Share
For those who know me, when the money job decided to downsize last April, I decided it was time to "retire" and become a full-time artist.
There are so many things to love about retiring, even if you are going to be a working artist. Setting your own schedules, sleeping in (at least sometimes), going to lunch with a friend on the fly .... so so many things!
I will start sharing my reasons whenever the mood strikes, mostly to document my gratitude to the universe ( and my still hard working Hubby).
So Reason 1 - I no longer have 5 or more alarms set on my phone. Yep, I'm one of those. I would have an alarm to remind me of the essential things or they wouldn't get done. I used to have 4 timers set automatically every day and then added more as I thought of things I needed to get done. I set them for my meds, for taking work breaks, to carve out 1/2 hour of studio time, get in my steps, and go to bed on time. Some days I had alarms going off every hour or more! I just felt so hemmed in and overwhelmed most days. The timer was a way to try to get stuff done and feel like I had at least some control over my time and life.
Now, I set the occasional timer - today I have 1 set to remind me to start supper on time. That's it.
It's just such a joy that my day is no longer so rigid. That I can be FLEXIBLE in how i get things done. That I have time to play.
The picture is my beloved Kya playing. I love the look in her eyes. I could learn a lot from my Baby!
